As part of the CLPs new focus on community campaigns we had a very successful #CareFortheNHS campaign day in December. This tied in really well with the Bradwell Hospital Campaign we are supporting, for whom we continued to collect signatures for the letter writing campaign and added over 300 to the total amount.
We had over 20 members turning out on a cold December, including Keele Labour Students, several Unite members and Unite the Community members, Cllr Allison Gardner, Cllr Shaun Pender (Newcastle member and a Councillor in Stoke), and Paul Farrelly MP. Everyone was very active in handing out leaflets, stickers, signing petitions and talking to people about Labour's determination to save the NHS from the Tory dismantling and privatisation. Due to the fantastic support we took two teams of leafleters out to Seabridge and covered quite an area.
Thanks to Thomas Brayford, our membership secretary for running the stall (and finding somewhere to photocopy more letters as we ran out) whilst I led the leafleting teams and especially thank you to all the fantastic people of Newcastle who clearly value the NHS and took time out of a busy Christmas shopping day to flock to the stall to have your say.
Keele Labour Students - the fastest leafleters in town!
