Save Our Libraries

Labour is stepping up its fight to save Audley Library.

Conservative-run Staffordshire County Council wants to hand over the library to voluntary groups.

But they won’t disclose what will happen if the groups say no.

Labour Councillor Bert Proctor has already collected hundreds of signatures on a petition to save the library from closure.

Now local MP Paul Farrelly has written to the County demanding a full breakdown of the costs that would fall to community groups - like the parish council - which may feel compelled to step in.

He has also accused Conservative leaders at the County of reneging on promises given in Parliament that County Council libraries would be safeguarded from cuts and closures.
