Sandra Hambleton elected Mayor of Newcastle Under Lyme

sandrah.jpgSandra Hambleton was voted in as Mayor of Newcastle this week.

Our local Labour women are going from strength to strength! In addition to Lizzie Shenton becoming the first female leader of the council we also have Sandra elected to the office of Mayor for Newcastle Under Lyme. Sandra was very honoured and, having worked in the council for many years,  found the move to the "big chair" somewhat surreal.

"I will do my very best to support and promote the loyal and Ancient Borough and to bring honour to the badge that I wear" says Sandra.

Sandra has been a long-standing councillor and has worked very hard for our community over the years and will, undoubtedly, be a fabulous Mayor.

Well done Sandra!
