Knutton Youth Club to close

Drastic spending cuts planned by Tory-run Staffordshire County Council - AND BACKED BY UKIP - have called time on Knutton’s Youth Club.

In the budget, Tory-run Staffordshire County Council, with the support of UKIP, proposes sacking all 400 youth workers and cutting back the budget for all Newcastle’s youth centres to just £50,000 - barely enough to run one centre!

Youth clubs are an important part of our communities and Knutton Youth Centre is a focal point of the village. Cutting youth services will mean young people have no access to help, support or advice - and by sacking all the youth workers, young people will be thrown onto the streets of our communities, with nowhere to go.

Sadly, despite 16,000 people across Staffordshire calling for the County Council to reconsider, Knutton’s UKIP County Councillor - Derrick Huckfield - voted for the Tory budget that included the funding cuts, and then voted against Labour’s call for the County Council to think again.
