Tom, Beth, Meg and Emily visited the European Parliament in July where the met with Sion Simons MEP for the West Midlands and toured the Parliament building.
Sion talked about his experience in the EU and the comparison to working as a backbencher in Parliament (where he served for 9 years).
They then visited the main chamber and learned many facts such as how the parties worked, saw the 24 translation booths, each with 3 translators working in 20 minute shifts, and discovered that the flags were diplomatically ordered alphabetically.
They then visited the Stella Artois brewery where it seems they were as excited at getting to wear high-vis vests as to the prospect of free beer.
You can read more about their visit with their entertaining blog, written by Emily, here.
