Ike Williams and Barbara Dodds

condolence-card.jpg

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of two stalwarts of the Labour Party here in Newcastle.  Ike Williams and Barbara Dodd were both longstanding members of the party, staunch supporters and valued comrades.

For many years Ike served as a councillor for Halmerend.  He was fully committed and dedicated to the people and village he loved.  His lasting memorial will be the beautiful Bateswood Country Park, a project very dear to his heart.  Ike worked tirelessly to ensure that the people of Halmerend and indeed the rest of the Borough would have this lovely park formed from the former open-cast coalmine.

Barbara was a life-long member of the party, she was a very important member of the Women’s Section attending meetings, outings, coffee mornings, jumble sales and many other events.  Barbara was always there at CLP meetings and events and she will be sadly missed.

Barbara’s funeral is at St Giles in Newcastle Tuesday 6th Feb at 1.30pm and Ike’s is on Friday 9th February at Bradwell Crematorium at 10.40
