Hands off Silverdale Library!

Labour's Amelia Rout and local MP Paul Farrelly have congratulated residents on their campaign to save Silverdale Library from closure.

The consultation process has now ended and the County Council are due to make their decision soon.

Hundreds of Silverdale residents signed  the petition, wrote letters to the County Council and filled in feedback forms and the message from our community is clear.

“HANDS OFF OUR LIBRARY”

Some County Council Officers have already suggested that Silverdale Library could be replaced with a mobile service  as the Councillors seeks to save £30,000 from our Library - leaving less than £10,000 to run the local facility.

Councillor Amelia Rout said: “When the Tories and UKIP Councillors voted to cut Libraries, we knew that Silverdale would be on their “hit list”. Local people have worked hard to show that we won’t accept cuts in our community.”
