As I am sure you know, the crucial County Council election is only 4 weeks away.
In 2013 Labour narrowly lost out to the Tories by only 77 votes in this division, which covers Clayton, Seabridge and most of Town ward.
This year we have a good chance of unseating the Tory County Councillor who has presided over cuts of 20% to our Fire and rescue Services in his role as Chair of the Fire Authority. He's now ready to hand the Fire Service over to the Tory Police and Crime Commissioner, in what many firefighters fear will be a threat to their hard-earned pensions.
Our candidate, Ruth Wright, is a Borough Councillor for Town Ward and has lived in Newcastle all of her life. She cares about the area, the people, and the public services which we all rely on.
If you can help Ruth's campaign this week, please find below details of leafleting sessions in the coming days. If you would rather take a round to do in your own time, please get in touch with me and I will be happy to drop them off with you at a convenient time.

We made a good start tonight but with only 3 people leafleting there is still 95% of the division left to cover, so any help you can give will make a real difference to the campaign!
For anyone who can't leaflet but would like to be involved in the campaign, please get in touch because we can organise other things like phone canvassing of voters, and there will be a few hundred letters to put into envelopes too, in the coming weeks - we work hard to make campaigning as inclusive as possible so that every single one of our members can be involved.
In solidarity,
Chris Spence & Ruth Wright
